Little Springers is Springfield United’s introductory football program for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
The program is designed to give young children their first taste of football in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. Sessions focus on basic movement, ball skills, confidence, listening, teamwork and, most importantly, having fun.
Little Springers is a great first step for children who may later move into MiniRoos football from Under 6 onwards.
Registration for the 2026 Little Springers Program is now full.
Families are welcome to join the waitlist, and we will contact you if a position becomes available.
Our Little Springers program was relaunched in 2020 and has continued to be a popular first football experience for young players.
The program is based on fun, simple and age-appropriate football activities. Children are introduced to the ball through games and activities that help them build coordination, balance and confidence.
At this age, the focus is not on competition or structured matches. The aim is to help children enjoy being active, learn basic football skills and feel comfortable in a team environment.
The program is designed to be fun, relaxed and suitable for young children who may be new to organised sport.
The Little Springers program usually runs for approximately 10 weeks, split into two blocks on either side of the June school holidays.
The program generally runs from mid-May to mid-August, with a break over the June school holiday period.
Sessions are usually held once per week:
Day: Tuesday
Time: 5:30pm to 6:15pm
Games: No weekend games
Session days and times may be confirmed each season depending on field availability, coaching support and final program numbers.
Parents are encouraged to get involved and support the sessions.
Little Springers works best when parents are nearby, positive and willing to help children feel comfortable. Some children may need a little extra support, especially in the first few weeks, and that is completely normal.
Parents may also be invited to assist with simple activities during sessions. No football experience is required — just a willingness to help and encourage the children.
Program inclusions may vary each season, but fees generally include:
Any kit or equipment included in the program is usually provided on the opening night or during the first sessions of the program.
The usual Little Springers process is:

Little Springers is a great introduction to football before children move into MiniRoos.
Many Little Springers players go on to join Springfield United MiniRoos teams from Under 6 onwards. MiniRoos introduces players to team-based football in a fun and age-appropriate way.
Little Springers helps children build confidence, basic football skills and familiarity with the club environment before taking that next step.
