To find out more about our senior teams, go to our General Senior Info page.
What age group should my child register in?
You register in the age group equivalent to the age you will turn in that year. For example, if you were registering for the 2026 season and you were born in 2020, you will register for Under 6.
Can my child play up an age group?
The general answer to this question is ‘no’. Playing up a year level is not encouraged by the club and is actively discouraged by Football Queensland. This is usually only possible if your child’s current age group is full, and there are spaces in the age group above. Written dispensation is required.
If your child does play up an age group, you will need to sign a document giving permission for this to happen. Your child will only be able to play up an age group for that season, the following season they will be expected to play in their original age group.
Playing up an age group in order to play with friends is not a good enough reason for Football Queensland to make an exception.
If you register outside your child's normal age group, you must advise why in the team preferences section of the registration or your child may be moved to the correct age group.
Can my child play down an age group?
Playing down an age group is generally only acceptable in exceptional circumstances. Dispensation for playing down a year level will need to be sought from Football Queensland and will need to be supported by relevant documentation to make a case for this to occur. Children who are small for their age, have problems with social interactions, or who have a medical reason to play with a younger age group will need documentation for this to be approved. Please contact the club (info.sufc@gmail.com) if you would like your child to play down an age group.
The playing (age) group says 'FULL'/I can't find my age group?
Some age groups may reach capacity due to team numbers, coach availability and field space. If registrations are full for your child’s age group, we encourage you to join the waitlist.
Joining the waitlist means Springfield United can contact you if:
Available spots are advertised on our registration page, so we encourage families to check the page regularly for the latest updates on open age groups and waitlist availability.
Please make sure you:
Waitlist places are not guaranteed, but the club will do its best to accommodate players where possible.
Join the waitlist to be considered if a MiniRoos place becomes available.
Please do not register into a random age group as you will be moved to the waitlist in the correct age group.
Can I request a specific team/coach/friend/training night for my child's team or?
Yes you can request specifics as part of the registration process. Springfield United will do its best to accommodate these requests, especially in younger MiniRoos age groups, wherever possible. However, not all requests can be accommodated. cannot always be guaranteed.
We try to ensure all requests are considered, however, we receive a huge number of requests and cannot promise that all will be successful. This is particularly relevant in situations where players from the same school year were born in different calendar years and therefore have to play in different age groups.
Requests late in the registration process are more difficult to process than those received earlier.
Are there trials?
We will run trials for the highest level teams in U13 to U18, and U9 to U12 (Kangaroos). Academy trials are generally in October/November for te , Juniors trials late January/February and MiniRoos Kangaroos trials are typically in February. Watch our socials for updates.
We do not hold trials for general mixed Miniroos teams or juniors teams.
We do not hold trials or 'come and try' sessions for teams unless advertised.
How do I know what team I am/my child is in?
For those teams that trial, allocation of players to teams will occur during that process.
For remaining teams, parents/players will be notified by SUFC, or directly by the Coaches/Managers prior to training commencing.
For MiniRoos, an email will be sent to all parents/players 1 - 2 weeks before training commences with team allocation, Coach/Manager details and training day/time and field.
Can I be the Coach or Manager of my child's team?
Springfield United is a community football club and to keep our fees as low as possible, we rely on parents to step forward to be the Coach or Manager of our teams. We do not provide Coaches and Managers for our community level teams.
Each team requires parent volunteers to assist as:
Volunteer coaches and managers are essential. Without volunteers, teams may not be able to train or play. Please refer to our Coaches and Managers page for more details.
