General Junior Info

Springfield United offers football opportunities for players from U6 to U18, across a range of ages, abilities and commitment levels.

Whether your child is starting their football journey, continuing with friends, looking for a girls-only team, or aiming for a more competitive development pathway, Springfield United provides options for players to learn, improve, compete and enjoy the game.

Our MiniRoos and Junior programs are an important part of the club’s long-term pathway, helping players progress from MiniRoos into junior football, and for those who wish to continue, into senior football at Springfield United.

Younger than 6 and want to join?

Little Springers is Springfield United’s introductory football program for our youngest players aged 3 to 5 years old.

The program is designed to give young children their first taste of football in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. Sessions focus on basic movement, ball skills, confidence, listening, teamwork and, most importantly, having fun.

Sessions are age-appropriate and designed to keep young children active, engaged and enjoying themselves. The focus is not on competition, results or structured team play, but on helping children build a positive first experience with football.

For many families, Little Springers is the first step in the Springfield United pathway before moving into U6 MiniRoos.

  • Teams for different ability levels and experience
  • MiniRoos, Junior Divisional, Development and FQ Academy pathways
  • Opportunities for boys, girls and mixed teams
  • A strong connection between MiniRoos, junior and senior football
  • A welcoming club environment for new and returning players
  • A focus on teamwork, confidence, skill development and enjoyment
  • A pathway for players who want to play socially, competitively or progress further in the game

At Springfield United, MiniRoos and junior football is about more than just weekend games. It is about helping young players build confidence, learn new skills, make friends, represent the club and develop a lifelong love of football.

Choosing the Right Pathway

Not every player’s football journey looks the same, and that is okay.

Some players want to play socially with friends. Some want to challenge themselves in higher divisions. Some may aim for FQ Academy, FQPL or senior football. Springfield United aims to provide a pathway that supports different goals, abilities and levels of commitment.

Families are encouraged to read the relevant age-group pages and registration information to understand the best option for their child.

  • Want to be part of the club without the higher commitment of Development or FQ Academy football

Community team numbers are confirmed each season based on registrations, coach availability, team nominations and competition structures. The club’s aim is to provide as many suitable team opportunities as possible so players can continue enjoying football at Springfield United.
